Bio

A rare three-time All-North Central Conference performer in basketball (Dick Wiedenfeld, and Brad Barron are the others) Bob Held was cited in 1942, 1943, and 1947. He led the NCC in scoring (16.0 ppg), and field goals scored (43) during the 1943 season. Held played a leadership role in the 1947 NCC championship squad that went 7-2 in league games, and 17-6 overall, one of only five Morningside teams to capture an NCC title in the 78-year association with the league.

Like many other Morningsiders at that time, his education pursuits were put on hold to serve the country in the military during World War II. The long-time area coach was selected as the Sioux City Journal’s Coach of the Year in 1962 while at West Sioux of Hawarden.
