Bio

Raised in a Sioux City orphanage, Jim Hindman’s story is one of hard work, risk-taking, perseverance, and determination. The 1957 graduate played football for Morningside, and was a member of the 1954, and 1956 North Central Conference championship squads, two of only three Maroon teams to win NCC titles in school history.

An entrepreneur, and savvy businessman, Hindman operated 32 nursing homes early in his career, and also served as head football coach at Western Maryland College. He then founded Jiffy Lube International in the mid-1980’s, led the company through a public stock offering, and expanded to more than 1,000 franchises. Hindman later launched Youth Services International, which operated a series of reform schools for troubled youths. In 1988, Hindman made a naming gift for the Hindman-Hobbs Recreation Center on the Morningside campus.
