Bio
Hinkley, a colorful fullback, was colorfully described in the 1921 Sioux yearbook as “the best line plunger in the backfield who was also fast, and a wonderful interference man. On defense, he always got the man he was after, and generally set him back.” Hinkley scored Morningside’s touchdown in 1919 showdown with Notre Dame before 5,000 fans on Bass Field on an 11-yard run. The Maroons gave coach Knute Rockne’s Irish all they wanted before falling 14-6. Morningside finished the season with a 5-2 record.
