Bio
The only four-time first-team all-GPAC performer in the history of the Mustangs' women's soccer program. Maggie (Kukuk) Wiley was also a two-time NAIA honorable mention All-American and two-time NAIA All-Region III performer. She is the all-time leading scorer in program history with 170 career points as well as the Mustangs' all-time career leader with 44 assists and 26 game-winning goals.
"Being able to be a part of two national tournament appearances and to compete with others who are still good friends today were two of my biggest memories (of Morningside)," Maggie said. "The academic side was also important, but the athletic side (of my collegiate experience) stood out the most."
The fact is proven with a deeper dig into her career resume. She ranks second in Morningside history with 63 career goals, is tied for the single-game record with three assists on three occasions and is the all-time career leader in post-season play with 14 goals, six assists, and 34 points. Kukuk's successes continued off the field, as she was also a first-team Academic All-American in 2011 when she came back to use her final season of athletic eligibility while she attended graduate school.
Looking back year-by-year, Kukuk enjoyed a record-breaking freshman season in 2006 when she helped lead the Mustangs to a 15-5-1 record, the NAIA Region III championship, and Morningside's first-ever appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. She scored 42 points with 11 goals and a school-record 20 assists and tied a school record with six game-winning goals. As a sophomore, she led Morningside in every scoring category with 20 goals, 14 assists, and 54 points and set a school record with 10 game-winning goals for a team that went 17-3-1 and won the GPAC title with an 11-0-1 mark en route to a repeat appearance in the NAIA national tournament. She tied a school record during the season, too, scoring a point in 12 consecutive games. During 2008, she was the Mustangs' leading scorer again with 11 goals and 27 points. Returning to the playing field in 2011 as a graduate student, she showed no signs of the lay-off, providing the game-winning goal in eight of the Mustangs' 11 victories and led the Mustangs in every scoring category as well with 21 goals, five assists, and 47 points.
"(Everything about playing soccer at Morningside) was enjoyable … it didn't matter if it was 6 a.m. practice, a Friday night kick around, a match … all the way down the line," Maggie noted. "It went by way too fast, but it was very rewarding. I wish I could go back and play even now."
