Bio
A key performer for Morningside’s record-setting baseball teams of the late 1970’s, and early 1980’s, Jay Rehnstrom earned All-North Central Conference honors in 1979, 1980, and 1981. The catcher from Linn Grove was named co-Most Valuable Player of the NCC in 1981, sharing the honor with Nebraska-Omaha’s Dave Poulicek. In that season, he batted.330 with nine home runs, and 25 RBIs. He was also named an NCC Honor Athlete in 1981.
A four-year starter, Rehnstrom helped lead Morningside to North Central Conference championships in 1978, and 1980. Both teams qualified for the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament, marking the only post-season appearances for the program. Rehnstrom served as president of First State Bank in Sioux Rapids for many years.
