Bio

Glen "Honie" Rogers excelled on the field, on the sidelines as a coach, and later in business over a long association with Morningside. Rogers served as captain of both the football and basketball squads and was the school’s second-ever selection to the All-North Central Conference football team, being cited as a back in 1923.

In three seasons, the Newell, Iowa, native completed 39 of 58 passes for 440 yards and six touchdowns.

After graduation, Rogers joined Morningside’s athletic department as head basketball coach, assistant athletic director, and freshman football coach. He compiled a 75-76 overall basketball record from 1932-42, including a 68-47 mark in his last seven seasons. Rogers’ 1938 squad captured the NCC championship with a 10-3 overall record. In 1946, Rogers co-founded Sportsman’s Inc., sporting goods store along with his wife, Elaine, which he operated until his passing in 1983.
