Bio

A two-time All-North Central Conference performer (1966-67), John Vermilyea was one of Morningside’s greatest basketball scorers, knocking down 1189 points in just 58 games played for a career scoring average of 20.4 points per game, second highest in school history. He held school records for single season points (572), and field goals (240), and career points (1189), and field goals (487) for many years. Vermilyea led the NCC in free throw percentage (.866) in 1966. He was a 16th round selection of the Cincinnati Royals (155th overall) in the 1967 NBA draft.
