Bio
The 2003-04 Morningside women's basketball team completed a storybook season by capturing the NAIA Division II National Championship, the school’s first-ever. coach Jamie Sale’s squad gave a preview of things to come by starting the season with 17 consecutive victories. Morningside completed the Great Plains Athletic Conference slate with a 15-3 mark, good for a runner-up finish in the league. The team captured the post-season conference tournament, and then reeled off five consecutive victories in the national tournament, dispatching Spaulding, Indiana Wesleyan, Evangel, and the University of Mary before defeating Cedarville University 87-74 in the finals to cap a 34-4 season.
Junior Brittany Carper was named the NAIA Division II National Player of the Year by averaging 21.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 4.0 steals per game. She was a first-team All-American. Megan Cloud, and Kate Lokken were also key performers with 18.9, and 18.1 points per game respectively. Head coach Jamie Sale was named the NAIA National Head coach of the Year.
