Morningside baseball tabbed second in preseason GPAC poll

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — With less than two weeks before the season begins, the Morningside baseball team Monday learned it was voted as the No. 2 team in the Great Plains Athletic Conference preseason poll.
The Mustangs received 87 points in the coaches' survey, including one first place vote. The Mustangs were second to Concordia in the points system.
Last season, Morningside finished second in the GPAC standings with an overall record of 35-14-1 and won 19 conference contests. That allowed the Mustangs to host a pod during the GPAC Baseball Tournament, and advanced to the pod championship against Mount Marty.
Morningside opens the season Feb. 6 against MidAmerica Nazarene. The home opener is Friday, March 13, against Northwestern.
