Yasui tallies second GPAC Player of the Week
SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Morningside baseball senior Kade Yasui was named Tuesday as this week’s GPAC Baseball Player of the Week. It's the second time during the month of March he has earned this honor.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Morningside baseball senior Kade Yasui was named Tuesday as this week's GPAC Baseball Player of the Week.
Yasui turned in a dominant stretch at the plate against Dakota Wesleyan and Midland, going 13-for-19 (.684) with three doubles, two home runs, and eight RBIs. He also drew two walks, scored six runs, and posted a .714 on-base percentage with a 1.158 slugging percentage.
The Mililani, Hawaii, native production came in key moments, too. Yasui reached base in all five of his leadoff opportunities, went a perfect 8-for-8 with the bases empty, and hit 4-for-6 with two outs. He also collected five hits in RBI situations, consistently delivering when Morningside needed it most.
On the season, Yasui is hitting .400 with a .483 on-base percentage and .640 slugging percentage. He has totaled 20 hits, including eight extra-base hits, and driven in 15 runs.
It's the second time during the month of March he has been recognized, as he was the pitcher of the week during Week 5.
