NAIA announces cheer, dance All-America teams
KANSAS CITY, MO. – The honors and accolades weren't done for Morningside's competitive dance and competitive cheer teams, as on Sunday, March 14, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced its All-America teams for the pair of sports.
Taking top billing for Morningside was Bryn Groff (SR/Sheldon, Iowa), who was the lone All-American for the Mustangs, becoming the eighth honoree in program history. She is also the first repeat recipient of the award.
Honorable mention nods went to Emily Duffek (SO/Tabor, S.D.), Samantha Snyder (FR/Marshalltown, IA), Payton Leavitt (SR/Marcus, Iowa), Isabelle Majeres (FR/LeMars, Iowa), and Madison Mahr (SO/Sioux City, IA), marking the seventh-straight season that the program has had one honorable mention or better honoree.
Morningside Cheer's Sage Sheppard's (FR/Colorado Springs, Colo.) All-America team tryout resulted in an honorable mention distinction for the freshman. 2021 is the fourth year that Cheer has received an honorable mention distinction or better.
