CRETE, NEB. – Morningside's cheer team concluded its season competing in the 2022 Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships and NAIA qualifier. The Mustangs placed sixth overall, with a total score of 65.0175.
Morningside's preliminary round performance saw a few stumbles amidst a high-energy, high-difficulty routine.
"This routine is difficult on its own, let alone performing it twice in one day," explained Alisha Knowler, serving as coach for the Mustangs for the competition. "You really have to stay focused and confident, and this team did just that!"
The Mustangs put the routine in the past, heading into finals on short rest.
"They battled through and came together as a team today, and put out two very good performances," Knowler expanded.
"They wanted to end the day on a strong note, and they did just that. They knew they could improve upon their prelims performance and really focused on the things they could control."
