SIOUX CENTER, IOWA – After nailing a zero-deduction routine but coming up short in the standings at a home dual on Friday with a 74.75, the Mustangs turned the tables and came out ahead as they laid down a 77.55 to take the third spot in Dordt University's cheer invitational. Friday was the second time that Morningside has had a zero-deduction performance this season.
Morningside's high difficulty display has sent the Mustangs' scores on an upward trajectory over the last week of competition, while deductions in the performance at Dordt show that there is room for improvement as they look to optimize their scores at the two-round Great Plains Athletic Conference Cheer Championships.
Morningside's next performance is March 9 in the GPAC Championships hosted by Doane University in Crete, Neb., where the Mustangs will compete for the conference title and a trip to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Cheer Championship in Ypsilanti, Mich.
