Mustangs begin spring event
Senior Dylan Bade (NA) (Sergeant Bluff, Iowa) and freshman Nathanael Roop (NA) (Marcus, Iowa) guided Morningside College as it returned to competition Tuesday, April 21.
Bade earned a team kill for the Overwatch squad against the Marymount University of Virginia to move the payload for a point. Roop, a team captain, helped lead the path to a best-of-three situation against Central Christian College of Kansas in the second match of the night on the Control map of Busan, enabling a "clever competition", according to head coach Dean Stevens.
"We had our chances (against Marymount)," Stevens said. "It came down to the Escort Map of Kings row. Both teams moved the payload endpoint to force overtime, but Marymount shut us out from that point.
It was the same (versus Central Christian) early on," he added. "It came down to overtime in the Control Map of Busan, but we couldn't control that point."
Morningside resumes the National Association of Collegiate eSports' spring event Tuesday, April 28, taking on the University of Texas at Dallas and Boise State University of Idaho at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Central Standard Time, respectively.
