Roop guides Mustangs
The second of three spring competitions for the 2019-20 Morningside College Overwatch League team saw a pair of defeats versus National Association of Collegiate eSports Division I squads the Full Sail University of Florida and Boise State University of Idaho Tuesday, April 28.
Freshman Nathanael Roop (NA) (Marcus, Iowa), as he did in the section opener April 21, topped individual efforts for head coach Dean Stevens' team. "(Nathanael) had some key kills to move the payload forward (against Boise State)," he said. "Overall, it was a tough night against two excellent programs. We hope to use this experience to get us ready for the finale against the University of Central Oklahoma May 5."
Full Sail and Boise State each claimed 2-0 wins. According to Stevens, Full Sail was in control of both Oasis and Junkertown maps in the evening's first match-up. The Maroon appeared on the verge of taking an early lead versus the Broncos of BSU, but they couldn't control the Oasis map for the full 100 seconds.
Morningside's Overwatch League spring slate concludes at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, against UCO. Live video is available through www.msidemustangs.com, the Internet home of Morningside College athletics.
