Dreith, Paulsen pick up GPAC Player of the Week nods
Colton Dreith received the GPAC Defensive Player of the Week, while Trevor Paulsen was the Special Teams Player of the Week.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Morningside University football team on Monday earned two more Great Plains Athletic Conference Players of the Week following a 13-7 win over Northwestern.
Colton Dreith received the GPAC Defensive Player of the Week, while Trevor Paulsen was the Special Teams Player of the Week.
Dreith had two key sacks in Saturday's win, totaling 26 yards for loss. His first one came early in the third quarter, as he had a 17-yard sack that forced the Red Raiders to punt.
Then, on the final defensive stand, the Storm Lake, Iowa, native had a seven-yard sack that put the Red Raiders behind the chains.
He also had four total tackles and hurried the quarterback twice.
On the season, Dreith has 24 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, and has 5.0 tackles for loss. He's sent opponents back 38 yards.
Paulsen, meanwhile, connected on two crucial field goals. He put the Mustangs on the board with a 38-yard FG with 1 minute, 31 seconds left in the first quarter. His second field goal – good from 44 yards – came with 2:52 left in the third.
The latter field goal ended a 10-play drive that took more than five minutes off the clock.
Paulsen – a Yankton, S.D., native, has made three field goals and one extra point this season.
