Mustangs pick up win in GPAC opener

The Mustangs shot better than 50 percent from the field and better than 30 percent from beyond the arc as they collected their first Great Plains Athletic Conference win and moved to 3-0 on the season. Morningside also pulled down 38 rebounds, with 29 defensive and nine offensive boards, in the win.
Ely Doble was key to Morningside's offense, recording a team-high 23 points. Trey Powers followed Doble with 17, and Jack Dotzler and Joey Skoff each had 11. Aidan Vanderloo led the team off the bench with five points. Dotzler also had a game-high nine assists in the contest.
Dotzler also led the way in the rebounds column, collecting eight caroms, all on defense. Powers and Justin Sitti co-led the Mustangs with two offensive rebounds each. Powers totaled seven rebounds and Skoff had five.
Morningside is back in action on Wednesday, with Dordt coming to town for a 7:45 p.m. contest.
