Mustangs best BCU in rivalry game
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside men’s basketball continued to roll, picking up its third consecutive win at Sioux City rival, Briar Cliff. The Mustangs escaped the Newman Flanagan Center with a 76-70 victory, moving to 9-2 and 5-1 on the season.
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside men's basketball continued to roll, picking up its third consecutive win at Sioux City rival, Briar Cliff. The Mustangs escaped the Newman Flanagan Center with a 76-70 victory, moving to 9-2 and 5-1 on the season.
Morningside shot a blistering 65.7 percent from the field, netting 33 shots in 51 attempts and going 5-10 from three-point land. The Mustangs pulled down 34 rebounds, to the Chargers' 23, but had 11 more turnovers than their opponents.
Joey Skoff led the Mustangs in scoring, putting up 26 points, including a 10-for-16 effort from the floor. Ely Doble had 19 points, while Trey Powers and Jack Dotzler each had 13.
Doble led the way in rebounding, snagging 13 boards to complete the double-double. Powers and Brendan Buckley each had six rebounds in the contest.
The Mustangs look to continue their current streak as they travel to Orange City, Iowa, on Saturday to play the Northwestern Red Raiders in a 3:45 p.m. contest.
