Mustangs secure share of GPAC Championship
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Men’s basketball received a pleasant surprise following its 102-74 victory over Midland University on senior day, when the final score from Jamestown came in, and Dordt had upset the Jimmies to help the Mustangs claim a share of the 2023 Great Plains Athletic Conference championship title.

Like the women before them, Morningside's men never trailed in the contest and gave the reserve players some minutes, subbing out for the final minutes of the game.
The Mustangs racked up an additional 18 points in the paint over their counterparts from Fremont, with 58 in the contest. Morningside had 46 points off the bench.
Ely Doble led the Mustangs in scoring, with 22 points. Joey Skoff followed with 13, and Aidan Vanderloo had 12, including a three-pointer that was shot from the volleyball spike line. Behind Vanderloo were Jack Dotzler, who put up nine points, Brendan Buckley, Trey Knudsen, and Justin Sitti with seven each. Dylan Johnson and Will Pottebaum both had six points, Tyson Gordon had five, and Daniel Brocaille had three.
Skoff led Morningside with eight assists, followed by Dotzler, with five. Vanderloo and Sitti each had four.
Doble and Skoff put up matching rebounding totals, each with six. Dotzler followed with five, and Powers, Dylan Johnson, and Caleb Dreckman each had three.
Morningside heads into the GPAC postseason tournament as the no. 2 seed, and will host Briar Cliff at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22.
