Mustangs return to national poll at No. 21

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After weeks of consistent play, the Morningside men's basketball team returned to the NAIA Top 25 on Wednesday in the sixth poll of the season.
The Mustangs entered the sixth NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 poll at the 21st spot after receiving votes for several weeks. The Mustangs received 151 points in the poll.
Morningside has been on a roll, winning its last 10 games, including a double-overtime thriller Saturday over Concordia. That victory also clinched the Great Plains Athletic Conference regular-season championship.
The Mustangs also became the first NAIA team to qualify for the national tournament, which begins March 13 on various campus sites.
Entering Wednesday's road finale against Northwestern, the Mustangs are the second-best efficient team in field goal percentage at 56 percent. They're also second in 3-point percentage at 43.1 percent.
During the current winning streak, the Mustangs have shot 50 percent or better in nine of them. The Mustangs turned in a 65-percent effort against Midland on Jan. 31.
Morningside is third among NAIA teams in assists per game at 19.5.
The Mustangs also the 11th highest-scoring team in the country at 88.5 points per game.
