Mustangs' national tourney road starts down south

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Morningside men's basketball team on Thursday learned its assignment in the NAIA Opening Round that starts next week.

The Mustangs earned a 7 seed in the tournament, and will head to Shreveport, Louisiana, to play 10-seed Texas Wesleyan at 5 p.m. Friday, March 13.

It's the fourth straight season where the Mustangs will compete in the national tournament. The Mustangs went 22-7, and won the GPAC regular-season championship.

LSU Shreveport will host this NAIA Opening Round pod. Tougaloo College will play LSUS on the other side of the first round pod, and the winner of that game will face the winner between the Rams and Mustangs on Saturday, March 14, at 5 p.m.
