Mustangs end fall season with third-place finish
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Morningside University men’s golf team wrapped up its fall season Tuesday with a third-place finish at the Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Morningside University men's golf team wrapped up its fall season Tuesday with a third-place finish at the Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational.
The Mustangs posted a two-day total of 591, finishing eight strokes behind team champion William Woods. The tournament featured two courses at The National Golf Club of Kansas City, with Monday's round played on "The National" and Tuesday's round on "The Deuce."
Dylan Welford led the Mustangs with a 2-over-par 144, highlighted by a 1-under 71 in the opening round. He carded four birdies in each round to finish third overall.
Darragh McGrath followed in fourth place with a consistent 146 (+4), shooting identical rounds of 73. He tallied four birdies on Day 1.
Ryan Cavanaugh tied for sixth at 148 (+6), capping his final round with a birdie on the 494-yard 18th hole.
Tyler Show tied for 23rd with a 152, and Finn Coull rounded out the lineup in a tie for 33rd at 156 after matching rounds of 78.
The invitational marked the conclusion of the Mustangs' fall schedule.
