SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Freshman goalkeeper Carter Genzen kept his double-digit saves per match mark intact in allowing Morningside University to stay within arm's reach of visiting Midland University over the first 30 minutes Friday, March 4.
Genzen's four saves in the wake of a 23-6 shots advantage for the Warriors were enough to have head coach Jack O'Brien's Mustangs trailing only 7-1 at halftime. Midland, locking up a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference victory at Tom Rosen Field, put up ten second-half scores to decide a 17-2 final.
Genzen ended the match with nine saves. He's averaged 12 over his first two collegiate outings. In its home opener, other highlights for Mside belonged to junior midfielder/attacker Brendan Rorabacher (Eagle, Idaho), who posted a goal for a third straight appearance, and freshman attacker/midfielder Sean-Michael Corbin (Ft. Myers, Fla.), who notched a goal, too.
Morningside (0-2 overall, 0-2 KCAC) takes to the road Friday, March 11, for a clash with Ottawa University.
