JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Mustangs continued to build the case that they're better than their record would seem to indicate as Morningside collected its second conference win in men's soccer at Jamestown. The Mustangs netted a pair of goals in the contest while keeping the Jimmies off the board.
The two Great Plains Athletic Conference rivals went head to head in what looked like it could end as a stalemate through the first half of play, but a revitalized Morningside team came out swinging in the second half, with Levi Von Hagen burying a ball in the back of the net in the 53rd minute for the first goal of the contest. Von Hagen's goal was set up by an assist from Jonas Markfoged.
The Mustangs got some insurance as the one minute warning was about to be announced, when Max Sickenberger got a pass to gero Zarbo, who laced it past the keeper for the final goal of the match.
Morningside's Bjarne Huth collected the win, saving the Jimmies' four shots on goal.
The Mustangs are back in action in their GPAC home opener on Wednesday evening at Elwood Olsen Stadium.
