Mustangs pick up crucial 5-1 GPAC win as regular season finale looms
CRETE, Neb. – Morningside Men’s Soccer made sure the penultimate regular season Great Plains Athletic Conference match was not one that was going to get away, posting a 5-1 score as the Mustangs picked up a win at Doane.

CRETE, Neb. – Morningside Men's Soccer made sure the penultimate regular season Great Plains Athletic Conference match was not one that was going to get away, posting a 5-1 score as the Mustangs picked up a win at Doane.
It was 28 minutes into the game when Jordan Bickel lit up the scoreboard in Crete, connecting on a pass from Bennet Buchwald and Lucas De Souza to net the game's first goal. Tobias Allerstorfer added a second tally for the Mustangs before the halftime intermission, sending the Mustangs to the locker room with a 2-0 lead.
On the other side of the break, Gustavo Dos Santos made his mark with a pair of unassisted goals separated by 20 minutes, giving the Mustangs some much needed insurance before Ellis Olden countered a late Doane score as he took a feed from Abbe Svoren to the net to make it 5-1.
Tim Teschner got the win in goal for Morningside today, posting a clean first half before being relieved by Timon Koerber. Koerber had a pair of saves while allowing the Tigers' lone score.
Morningside concludes its regular season on Wednesday at Dakota Wesleyan at 5 p.m.
