MITCHELL, S.D. — Morningside wrapped up its regular season with a 3-2 win over Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday, powered by two goals from Elis Olden and one from Jordan Bickel.
The Tigers struck first in the 24th minute, but the Mustangs (10-6-2, 6-2-2 GPAC) answered just before halftime. Bickel buried an unassisted shot in the 43rd minute to tie the match at 1-1.
Olden gave Morningside its first lead early in the second half, scoring unassisted in the 51st minute. After Dakota Wesleyan briefly pulled even in the 67th, Olden struck again six minutes later, finishing another unassisted chance in the 73rd to put the Mustangs ahead for good.
Goalkeeper Tim Teschner made three saves as Morningside held a 15-10 advantage in shots and limited the Tigers to a single corner kick.
The win marked Morningside's sixth straight unbeaten result and 10th victory overall, securing strong momentum heading into the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament, which begins on Saturday. The Mustangs will be seeded fourth, and earned a home match at 1 p.m. Saturday against Dakota Wesleyan.
