Mustangs split Brevard double-dual

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Freshmen Eduard Salvana (Calella, Spain) and Alex Castillo (Santiago, Chile) registered perfect singles victories Tuesday, March 8, guiding Morningside University.
Salvana, playing at No. 4, and Castillo, at No. 5, each took 6-0, 6-0 victories. Their wins were part of a sweep of singles play for head coach Alex Struck's squad. Moving to 5-1, the Mustangs added that to three doubles victories as part of a 9-0 team triumph over Brevard College of North Carolina.
Mside's women, opening their 2022 Spring Break duals, were held off 6-2 by the Tornadoes. Brevard managed to turn the tide with two of three doubles wins and four victories in singles, sending the Mustangs to 5-3.
Junior Emily Clotfelter (Fairfield, Mt.) led singles, winning at number one. The doubles section was headlined by the junior tandem of Aleks Sadowska (Warsaw, Polan) and Merel Kooij (Rockanje Zuid, Netherlands). They took an 8-4 decision in the second slot.
Morningside continues its southern competition Wednesday, March 9. They face the Milligan University of Tennessee in a double-dual.
