Mustangs Claim Shutout over Northwestern
ORANGE CITY, IOWA – Morningside got an early look at a GPAC opponent in men’s tennis today, as the Mustangs picked up a 7-0 win at Northwestern.
ORANGE CITY, IOWA – Morningside got an early look at a GPAC opponent in men's tennis today, as the Mustangs picked up a 7-0 win at Northwestern.
Mathys Arnold and Santiago Minetti made quick work of their doubles match, picking up a 6-2 win to push the needle in Morningside's direction. Marcos Menendez Hervella and Alexis Diaz added a 6-3 win at no. 2 doubles to pick up the doubles point for the team.
A singles sweep gave the Mustangs a perfect final score, with Menendez Hervella first in the books with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Arnold followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win; Diaz added a 6-4, 7-5 victory; Mark Trenkle won 7-5, 6-2; Jesse Gerth went 6-1, 6-0; and Joao Pedro Pierry Izoldi Costa wrapped up the win with a 7-5, 6-0 victory.
The Mustangs take their 2-0 record and head into their break before the spring season begins.
