Mustang Men Suffer 4-3 Setback to Missouri Baptist
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Morningside suffered its first regular season loss in men’s tennis since March of last year at the Mason Family Tennis Complex yesterday, dropping a 4-3 match to perennial powerhouse Missouri Baptist.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Morningside suffered its first regular season loss in men's tennis since March of last year at the Mason Family Tennis Complex yesterday, dropping a 4-3 match to perennial powerhouse Missouri Baptist.
The Mustangs started the match off well, sweeping doubles play as Mathys Arnold and Jesse Gerth won 6-0, Marcos Menendez Hervella and Alexis Diaz won 6-4, and Santiago Minetti and Gabriel Whiston won 6-4.
Diaz quickly followed the doubles victory with a 6-1, 6-0 win in the no. 2 singles slot and Whiston concluded the match under the lights with a hard-fought 2-6, 7-5, 10-1 win shortly after Missouri Baptist had secured the team win.
Morningside hosts a triangular with Baker and Northwestern to wrap up team play for the fall, before sending Diaz and Menendez Hervella to the ITA Cup in Mount Berry, Ga. next week.
