Olesen, Cline lead Mustangs with a pair of second-place finishes

SEWARD, NEB. – Second place finishes for Leighton Olesen and Kadyn Cline led a strong day for Morningside at the 2024 Bulldog Early Bird Meet, hosted by Concordia University.
Olesen finished second in the 60-meter dash after posting the highest time in qualifying, leaning at the line for a time of 6.92 seconds. He also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.15 seconds with teammate Lane Kruger finishing 10th in 23.15 seconds.
Cline's runner-up mark came in the 600-meter run, crossing the line in 1:25.91. Cline was followed by Chayton Rowe, who crossed in 6th in 1:28.55.
Jack Kling led a strong Morningside contingent in the 400-meter run, placing fourth in 52.20, with Laken Bellis on his heels in 5th place at 53.02 and Adam Fillipi crossing in 7th in 54.39.
Austin Ramold led the distance squad, placing 8th in the mile run in 4:58.23 and 10th in the 1,000-meter run in 3:06.43.
The Mustangs are back on the track and in the throwing ring in 2025, competing at Mount Marty on January 11.
