Freiberg, Hernandez qualify for NAIA national meet
KANSAS CITY, MO. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the qualifying field for the 2023 NAIA Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field National Championships today, including Morningside’s Austin Freiberg in the 110-meter hurdles and David Hernandez in the 400-meter hurdles.

Freiberg, the medalist at this year's Great Plains Athletic Conference outdoor championships, takes the 12th-ranked time into the NAIA event, with a season-best time of 14.23 seconds. His season-best came in the preliminaries of the GPAC championships.
Hernandez punched his ticket in the 400-hurdles at Concordia's Twilight meet, running a 54.12 for second place in the event. The time ranks no. 19 in the nation, less than three seconds behind the top mark.
This year's 2023 NAIA Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships are being held at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind. from May 24-26.
