Freiberg named NAIA All-American
MARION, IND. – Sprinter and hurdler Austin Freiberg etched his name in the Morningside Track and Field history books last week, becoming the Mustangs’ first National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-American in the 110-meter hurdles.
MARION, IND. – Sprinter and hurdler Austin Freiberg etched his name in the Morningside Track and Field history books last week, becoming the Mustangs' first National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-American in the 110-meter hurdles.
Freiberg placed eighth in the 110-hurdle finals at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, crossing the finish line in 14.66 seconds. He ran his career-best time the day prior in the preliminary heats, punching his ticket to the finals in 14.13 seconds.
Morningside's only other all-American in the 110-meter hurdles is Charles Johnson, who placed third in the nation in 1988. Johnson, receiving the honor during Morningside's NCAA Division II days, is the current school record holder in the 110-hurdles.
Freiberg, who is also the Great Plains Athletic Conference champion in the event, is a junior from Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.
