Mustangs fall at Dordt

Morningside took the upper hand at the beginning of each set, exchanging points with the Defenders, who were receiving votes in the latest national coaches’ poll. In the end Dordt took the match 3-0, with scores of 25-16, 25-16, and 25-11.

The Mustangs' numbers were not what they would've liked against the tough Dordt team, hitting .028 for 20 kills and recording just 18 digs as a team. Morningside had no service aces in the match, contrasting with a recent streak of record-setting numbers in that column.
Natan Alves' six kills led the squad, while Dylan Hamil and Kahakai Kahoiwai each followed with four. Tharen Cox had three terminations, Jesse Lowe had two, and Jacob DePauw had one. DePauw also recorded 17 assists.
On defense, Alves and DePauw led the Mustangs in the digs column, with five each. Owen Anderson followed with three. Cox had two block assists, followed by Hamil and DePauw with one block assist each.
Morningside travels to the University of Jamestown on Sunday, with the final matchup of the first half of the conference season getting underway at noon.
