Men's Volleyball comes up short on upset bid, falls to Dordt 3-1
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside’s men’s volleyball team gave Dordt a fight as the Defenders looked to hold their spot at the top of the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The Mustangs couldn’t upset the no. 14 Defenders, falling in four sets, 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, and 25-19.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside's men's volleyball team gave Dordt a fight as the Defenders looked to hold their spot at the top of the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The Mustangs couldn't upset the no. 14 Defenders, falling in four sets, 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, and 25-19.
Morningside held a lead late in set two before coming back to take set three, as the determined Mustangs went head-to-head with the league leaders.
Natan Alves has continued to dazzle for Morningside, leading all attackers with 19 kills, followed by Kahakai Kahoiwai, with nine, and Tharen Cox with six kills. Jacob DePauw tallied 30 assists in the four-setter.
Alves was big on defense, too, coming up with a team-high 13 digs. Owen Anderson had 11 digs as the libero, and DePauw had 10. Kahoiwai added seven, and Dylan Hamil had four. Erik Krenz was Morningside's big presence at the net, with a pair of block assists and a solo block. Hamil had two block assists.
The Mustangs will celebrate senior day tomorrow ahead of the Jamestown match, scheduled for 1 p.m. in Allee Gym.
