Morningside moves on to men's volleyball semifinals
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Men’s Volleyball plunged into the postseason as it competed in the first round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference postseason tournament earlier today. The Mustangs, the no. 3 seed in the tournament, swept Central Christian, 25-12, 25-15, and 25-8.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Men's Volleyball plunged into the postseason as it competed in the first round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference postseason tournament earlier today. The Mustangs, the no. 3 seed in the tournament, swept Central Christian, 25-12, 25-15, and 25-8.
Morningside improved as the day progressed, seeing its hitting percentage climb from .130 in set one to .400 in set three as the Mustangs continued to build momentum throughout the match.
Jacob DePauw and Emilio DeWitt split time at setter as the Mustangs ran a 6-2 offense for the first time this season. DePauw had 15 assists, while DeWitt had 12. DePauw also added four service aces to his totals for the day, a high for the team.
Owen Anderson and Natan Alves followed DePauw with three aces each. Kahakai Kahoiwai had two, and Erik Krenz had one.
Morningside had six players contribute to the team's kill total, led by Kahoiwai, with 10 kills. Krenz followed with eight, Alves had six, Tharen Cox had five, Dylan Hamil had four, and Jesse Lowe had three kills. Kahoiwai hit a team-high .500, with Krenz giving chase as he hit .462.
The Mustangs had 4.5 team blocks, all via block assist, with Krenz leading the way with three blocks. Cox followed with two, and Kahoiwai, Hamil, Lowe, and Alves each had one.
Alves had a team-high 11 digs, followed closely by Anderson, with 10. Kahoiwai followed with five, and DePauw and Cox had two. Krenz, Hamil, and DeWitt all had a single dig.
Morningside advances to the GPAC tournament semifinals, playing Dordt at 7 p.m. in Sioux Center, Iowa, on Wednesday.
