Morningside gets senior night sweep in home finale
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Mustangs picked up a sweep of Heart of America Conference opponent Kansas Wesleyan tonight in front of a lively crowd in the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center on senior night. Morningside’s sweep came with some lighthearted play to the tune of a 25-21, 25-15, 25-23 victory.

The spotlight was on this year's graduates, both before the match began and during the contest, as all six spent significant time on the floor.
Jacob DePauw added 19 assists to his career total of more than 3,000, a new program best. Kirby Schmalz and Isaiah Baynes each had eight kills. Schmalz hit .333 and Baynes hit .235. Tharen Cox also hit .333 with five kills.
Owen Anderson champions the defense with eight digs. Schmalz and Baynes also each added six digs, DePauw had four, and Cox had two. Cox also crossed the 250 mark in total blocks, with three block assists.
Donavon Chandy got some good touches in the back row, tallying an assist, and had a big service ace. Baynes also had a pair of service aces, and DePauw had three.
Morningside now looks toward a Tuesday night match at Graceland, with the varsity contest and regular season finale slated for 7 p.m. after the completion of a JV match.
