CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Morningside suffered a hard-fought loss this evening at no. 11 Mount Mercy, falling to the Mustangs 3-1.
Malu Wilcox ran Morningside's offense, collecting 35 of the team's 48 assists. Natan Alves was the only Morningsider to reach double digits in kills, striking for 20 while hitting .340.
Alves also had a team-high 13 digs, followed by libero Tucker Juhnke, who had 12. At the net, Paulikapu Wilson had five block assists, while Edoardo Pirazzo had four total blocks and Alves had three.
Morningside is back in action tomorrow, playing Clarke at 1 p.m. and St. Ambrose at 3 p.m. in Dubuque, Iowa.
