Four Mustangs earn NAIA Tournament bids
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Four Morningside men’s wrestlers will compete next week at the NAIA National Tournament, the school learned on Tuesday night.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Four Morningside men's wrestlers will compete next week at the NAIA National Tournament, the school learned on Tuesday night.
The four wrestlers who are national qualifiers are:
149: Caden Eggleston
165: Zander Ernst and Carson Turnis
197: Mekhi Bovee
Ernst and Turnis were automatic qualifiers, while Eggleston and Bovee earned at-large berths.
Eggleston went 17-3 this season, and earned two major decision wins this past weekend at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament.
Ernst has won all 20 matches this season, including winning the 165-pound conference championship. Eight of those wins came by way of technical fall.
Turnis has 10 victories under his belt on top of the two he got Friday and Saturday at the GPAC Tournament.
Bovee was recently named GPAC Freshman of the Year, winning 17 matches. Bovee also took two wins at the GPAC Tournament.
The seeding and preliminary brackets will be announced at 5 p.m. Friday on NAIA.org.
