Mustangs sweep Braves thanks to Harrel, Secora home runs
OTTAWA, Kan. — The Morningside University softball team claimed two more wins Tuesday over Ottawa by wins of 12-6 and 5-2. With the sweep, Morningside moved to 11-5.

Game 1: Morningside 12, Ottawa 6
Mackenzi Harrel was a double shy of the cycle. She hit a home run in the third inning, good for two runs. She later tripled during the seventh inning. She was 3-for-5 with four RBIs. it's the third time Harrel has had a game with three-plus RBIs.
Josie Hernandez also had a double, while Paige Schuster tripled in the win. Hernandez drove in three runs, and Ali Fletcher had two. Schuster and Emma Barwick also knocked in a run.
Adeline Fliege — this week's GPAC Pitcher of the Week — pitched the complete game. She struck out seven and allowed two walks. She allowed six earned runs on eight hits. Out of 115 pitches, 70 of those were strikes.
Game 2: Morningside 5, Ottawa 2
The Mustangs scored three during the third inning while adding two more in the sixth. There, Ellie Gengler had an RBi single to center field that tied the game at 1-1, and then Harrel brought home two with a double to center.
Morgan Secora scored runs four and five with a two-run homer. She also pitched a complete game. She allowed one earned run on five hits. She struck out two and also walked two.
The Mustangs will travel down to Gulf Shores, Alabama, to play six games over this upcoming weekend at the Gulf Coast Invitational.
