Mustangs come up short against Stars

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The Morningside softball season came to an end Wednesday, as Oklahoma City eliminated the Mustangs 11-1, in five innings during NAIA Opening Round play.
That run was scored during the first inning, as Josie Hernandez singled through the left side to score Jalyn Noelle. Noelle reached via a double before that. Paige Schuster also reached with a walk.
Combined, Morgan Secora, Adeline Fliege, and Jordan Skradski threw 98 pitches, and 54 of them found the strike zone. They forced 10 flyouts.
Morningside ended the season with a 35-19 record, and two of those victories came this week at the national tournament. As a whole, the Mustangs hit .317 with an on-base percentage of .380. They had 120 extra-base hits, including 27 home runs.
In the circle, the pitching staff collected a team ERA of 2.83 in 341 2/3 innings. Secora, Fliege, Skradski, Bralen Biddlecome, and Maggie Fisher struck out 167 batters and walked 109.
