SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Following a successful 2025 campaign, the Morningside University softball team on Monday was voted second in the preseason Great Plains Athletic Conference preseason poll.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Following a successful 2025 campaign, the Morningside University softball team on Monday was voted second in the preseason Great Plains Athletic Conference preseason poll.
The Mustangs (35-19 in 2025) earned three first-place votes to finish behind Midland. In all, they received 110 points, four behind the Warriors and two ahead of Northwestern.
Morningside qualified for the national tournament last spring after competing in the GPAC Tournament Championship Series. Earlier this fall, the Mustangs earned votes in the NAIA preseason poll.
The Mustangs open the season this Friday at the Dordt Dome Tournament. Their home opener is March 18 against Briar Cliff at Jensen Softball Complex.
