BALDWIN CITY, Kan. — Five different Morningside softball players drove in runs Monday, but the Mustangs dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Baker, falling 5-3 in Game 1 and 4-2 in Game 2.
In the opener, Lainie Keller, Paige Schuster and Jalyn Noelle each recorded RBIs, accounting for all three Morningside runs. The Mustangs managed three hits in the contest — one apiece from Schuster, Adeline Fliege and Jenna Skradski — and manufactured their scoring opportunities without a hit driving in a run.
Fliege started in the circle in Game 1 and allowed three earned runs on eight hits over six innings. She struck out four and threw 68 strikes among her 111 pitches.
In Game 2, Morningside plated single runs in the second and fifth innings. Bralen Biddlecome delivered an RBI single in the second inning to score Emma Barwick. Later, Lainie Harris provided a spark in the fifth with a solo home run.
Biddlecome also started Game 2 in the circle, pitching six innings while allowing four earned runs. She struck out three and walked one.
