Dougherty Earns Week 5 Player of the Week Honor

SIOUX CITY,  IOWA – Morningside's Amber Dougherty picked up this week's Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor, following a strong showing both in the field and in the batter's box over a span of eight games.

Dougherty, a freshman from Carlisle, Iowa, hit .462 on the week, recording 12 hits and three walks, with an on base percentage of .517. She also had four RBIs and 13 total bases, scoring six times.

Defensively, Dougherty's fielding percentage was 1.000, with 24 putouts and seven assists as she caught the final seven games of the week for Morningside, after spending the first in right field. She also threw out two runners on the basepaths.
