Morningside played the comeback kid in the day's opener, erasing a 2-0 deficit in the sixth inning as Emma Barwick and Amber Dougherty each singled and both scored on an Adeline Fliege double.
The Mustangs took the lead in the top of the eighth when Dougherty reached on an error, moved to second on a passed ball, and scored on a Mackenzi Harrel single. Morningside's defense was able to strand a trio of Dordt runners in the bottom of the frame, getting outs on a sacrifice, a strikeout, and a lineout to second base.
Fleige picked up the complete game win with 10 strikeouts as she scattered nine hits and three walks across the contest.
The Mustangs got on the board first in game two, scoring a pair of runs in the opening frame as Harrel followed a Jalyn Noelle walk with a home run, but the bats went quiet for the rest of the game, as Morningside tallied just four hits.
Morningside heads to Hastings on Saturday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader against the Broncos.
