Caribbean Champs – Mustangs close out pre-Christmas slate on winning note

Mitchell finished with 21 points, draining five treys in the process, as part of an impressive afternoon during a 65-54 victory over the University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon. She also dished out a team-best five assists. Rodenburgh tallied 19 points with three three-pointers included. She also had her hand in other categories with seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Sophomore post player Chloe Lofstrom (Armstrong, Iowa) turned in 13 points to join the double-figure outputs. Senior forward Sophia Peppers (Exira, Iowa) just missed hitting the same territory, ending with eight points, ten rebounds, two assists, and five steals.
Morningside, improving to 9-3, turned a 14-2 run to begin the second period into the game-deciding stretch. Head coach Jamie Sale's squad didn't look back, building the advantage out to as much as 15.
The Mustangs return to action Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 28 and 29, for the Briar Cliff University Classic. They will take on Grand View College and Presentation College over the two-day event.
