SIOUX CITY, IOWA – A tight game at the half turned ugly quickly as Northwestern shooting heated up in Allee Gym tonight. The Mustangs fell to the Raiders 93-65, as Northwestern shot 93 percent in the third quarter of the contest and better than 72 percent overall.

Late free throws lift Mustangs in Hawaii opener

HILO, HAWAII – Late free throws were key for Morningside as the Mustangs triumphed over the Viterbo V-Hawks in women’s basketball action, 68-55. The V-Hawks, clad in their dark jerseys, were within a score of tying the game in the closing minutes, but repeat trips to the free throw line allowed the Mustangs to remain on top at the final horn.

Mustangs rebound against Northwestern

ORANGE CITY, IOWA – Morningside’s women’s basketball team was looking for a way to move forward from Wednesday night’s setback entering today’s contest, but no. 16 Northwestern wasn’t going to be an easy team to bounce back against. The Mustangs, giving it their all, were able to flip the script, upsetting Northwestern on its home court 66-64.

Quiet quarter leads to Mustang loss

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – A cold second quarter for the Mustangs was what set Morningside and Briar Cliff apart when the final horn sounded in the Newman Flanagan Center following Great Plains Athletic Conference women’s basketball action. The host Chargers came away with a 76-54 victory, while Morningside could only find some satisfaction in knowing that it had narrowed the gap from the game’s largest margin of 32 points.

STERLING, KAN. – Morningside opened the women’s basketball season with the College of the Ozarks Bobcats, playing on a neutral court at Sterling College. The Mustangs outworked the Bobcats, defeating them in a 67-46 victory.
