Morningside picks up win over Benedictine

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Mustangs were looking to bounce back from the slide that they’ve been on over the last three games, but Benedictine, who was receiving votes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics preseason women’s basketball coaches poll, was not going to be an easy game do do it in. Morningside buckled down, though, putting up 24 points in the third quarter, cruising to a 74-57 win over the Ravens.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside suffered its first final-minute heartbreak in this weekend’s Great Plains Athletic Conference and home opener against Dakota Wesleyan. The visiting Tigers overcame a lead that Morningside built on a strong opening quarter to claim a 75-71 victory.

STERLING, KAN. – Morningside opened the women’s basketball season with the College of the Ozarks Bobcats, playing on a neutral court at Sterling College. The Mustangs outworked the Bobcats, defeating them in a 67-46 victory.
