DES MOINES, Iowa – Morningside went to Des Moines Tuesday night and fell to receiving votes Grand View 72-58.
The Mustangs led at the half, 39-38, but a 19-5 third quarter in favor of the Vikings gave Grand View an advantage heading into the final quarter. The Mustangs battled back within six points early on in the fourth quarter until the Vikings ultimately pulled away.
Chloe Lofstrom paced the Morningside attack, going 6-for-7 from the floor to score 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Alexis Spier and Jaeden Webb tallied nine points each. Spier also had a team high four assists. Olivia Larsen picked up eight points and five rebounds.
Morningside is back in action Saturday for the team's home opener against Benedictine. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. inside Allee Gymnasium of the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center.
