Brown, Hall help RV Mustangs power over Threshers

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — A 14-0 second-quarter run gave the RV Morningside women's basketball team the spark it needed Thursday, as the Mustangs pulled away to beat Bethel (Kan.) 88-67.
Trailing 31-23 early in the second, Morningside rattled off 14 straight points over a six-minute stretch. Clancy Brown helped out by scoring eight of those.
The Mustangs (2-0) scored 40 points and connected on seven 3-pointers. Tonja Heirigs led the long-range effort with two triples.
Brown finished with 17 points, tying her career high, and grabbed a career-best 10 rebounds to complete the double-double. Her previous 17-point outing came Jan. 18, 2025, at Hastings.
Kinsey Hall poured in a career-high 16 points on an efficient 7-of-9 shooting night, topping her previous best of 10. Dani Peterson added 12 points off the bench, and Lily Vollertsen chipped in 11.
Morningside stays in Kansas to face Kansas Wesleyan at 2 p.m. Friday.
