Morningside was able to limit DWU to just 13 points in the first quarter and 15 points in the final frame, scoring 16 in each of the two periods. A 16-point advantage in the middle two quarters gave the Tigers the edge that they needed to keep their hunt for the Great Plains Athletic Conference title alive.
The Mustangs had 35 total rebounds, with 27 on defense, led by Lily Vollertsen with eight and Clancy Brown with seven total boards. Brown and Sam Ehlers each had two steals, while Kinsey Hall added a pair of blocks.
Morningside was led on the scoreboard by Vollertsen, with 20 points. Hall followed with 13 and Brown had 12 to round out the Mustangs that reached double digits.
Another Tiger opponent is on the horizon for Morningside, as the Mustangs head to Doane on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest.
